First part of a new 53!

  • May. 16th, 2008 at 10:27 PM
liz
Hello! Erm, about that whole AWOL-for-a-fortnight thing... sorry for anyone's journal or posts that I've missed, but I spent a week studying in Florence (just amaaazing) and then another week sleeping, so I'm afraid I didn't really get on LJ much. But I'm back, and with a gift!

I had planned on waxing lyrical here about CSI and Supernatural but I figured I'd save that for a separate post! Regarding SPN I know it's going to a rather long Summer until Season 4 re-starts, but in the meantime I went and bought the Season 1 boxset of Roswell! So, addiction temporarily taken care of :P

The gift that I promised is this: the first part of the problem fic that I mentioned in my last post. It's getting a bit large, so I figured I'd post it in parts. Also, most of it has been (and is still being) written when I'm extremely drunk, so please excuse any faults in the logic / spelling / general plot. So please feel free to comment and let me know what you think of it so far!

Hope everyone's had a good week!
lys :)

PS [info]gwy and [info]tsuki_bug I know we have some serious catching-up to do... sorry for being incredibly lame :(

Last day and erm the end of a fic

super // hurt
Evening all :)

Well, just had my last day at lycée today... sunshine and a blockade, what more can one ask for?! They not only blockaded the lycée but also one road and a roundabout before the police finally shifted them. A lot of them were just sat sunbathing. Honestly, blockades just aren't the same as they used to be :P

It was actually quite sad to leave... am going to miss the place, and the people! One teacher even gave me some flowers which was lovely. I just can't believe the end has come around so fast!

At any rate realised I haven't actually posted a fic since early March, so just to reassure people that I'm a) alive and b) still writing, I thought I'd give you the current ending of my current fic, and let you think about it whilst I go off and finish writing the damned thing! It's another 'problem' fic, so perhaps you can have a go at guessing what the problem is (although I don't think you will :P). Obviously you're also welcome to completely ignore me until I come up with the finished goods! :)

So here we go, especially for [info]befanini:

Hope everyone's having a good week!

53 ficlet and computer in a coma

  • Mar. 11th, 2008 at 10:22 PM
Tru // Harry
Well hello, here I am with the return of the 53! But first, a minor rant about The Orange Juice Incident, which is the reason my computer is in his technological version of a coma.

Hence me going in search of a reputable computer shop in this technologically-retarded town. No idea what will happen, but I may be offline / without laptop for a few days, which is why I forced myself to bear with the keyboard and get this fic written as a gift for everyone :)

Hope you all enjoy it- I set out to write one of my usual bizarre humour ones, but as usual it went in its own direction, and ended up rather angsty. A bit longer than usual. Please let me know what you think, and hope you're all having a good week!

GW 1x2 ficlet and back in the City!

  • Mar. 1st, 2008 at 1:14 PM
liz
Well hello again! I'm back from my fortnight in Britain, where I enjoyed gale-force winds, -8C temperatures and a minor earthquake. No place like home, eh? At any rate it was brilliant to be back and to catch up with people, especially my friends at uni (made a flying trip up to check out the new flat). The dissert is now over 2,000 words (woo! [info]mangacat hope yours is going well too!) and even if I only have a couple of months to write the other 3,000, I felt justified in playing with fics instead and thus putting this up for public viewing:

It's a Gundam Wing 1x2 fic I wrote a while back, and randomly posted (and yes, I do mean in an envelope) to [info]gwy who persuaded me to put it up. I travel a lot, get bored in airports a lot, and hence spend far too much time thinking (which I'll admit is fairly dangerous for me!). At any rate, hope you enjoy. Apologies for the strange things that LJ has done to the line spacing. It was in paragraphs once upon a time.

Gundam Wing Fic: Destination

Author:
lysander_o
Pairing: 1x2
Rating: Fluff
Notes: my first 1x2 fic in months (and second in total!) after some serious moonlighting over in Saiyuki… hope you like :)

The song that Duo is singing is Supagloo by Magic Dirt.

I'm also going to post this in [info]1x2_fans, and it'll be the second ficlet I've ever posted there, so let's hope it works!

PS more Saiyuki 53 is on the way, have no fear! Sexy goo XD

PPS belated happy birthday [info]micaela_a !! Hope you had a brilliant day :)

53 ficlet and the not-essay

  • Jan. 23rd, 2008 at 4:23 PM

As I am still clearly not making progress on my dissertation, I spent this morning doing the shopping. Little bit of manga, some letter paper (especially for you, [info]gwy!) and the groceries... I had actually run out of all food except pasta, rice and an assortment of teabags.

I also wandered in and out of the shops on the Rue Alsace-Lorraine, and saw something which prompted this:

Once again, please let me know what you think! It just popped into my head and successfully displaced all thoughts of Occitan and any intentions I had of signing up for Italian courses in May. I know I still owe everyone part 2 of The Problem With Kappas (Saying Stupid Things) but have no fear it's on its way! And in the meantime, hope you like :)

Ooh and btw [info]tsuki_bug my dear, not sure if you got my last e-mail, but I'll be around probably most of today and tomorrow if you're free! I'm not doing anything particularly useful other than watching Entourage and glaring at my Securité Sociale papers, so just let me know! And you know what, I realised the other night I might have some GW drabbles kicking around... perhaps we could discuss?

Hope everyone's having a good week :)

4th 53 fic part 1

  • Jan. 10th, 2008 at 9:10 PM
liz
Well I'm trying to watch Season 2 of Entourage and it's not loading fast enough for my liking, so instead of planning my lessons, (too productive) putting the clean laundry away (far too productive) or even writing my dissertation (erm... noo) I decided to shove this out onto my LJ to see what people think of it.

I've adapted the first section from a piece I was writing for some original characters of mine, so I hope I've managed to alter all the significant details. The reason it's a part one is because I haven't written the second half yet XD XD

I've had a long day, which included finally going to the Institut d'Occitan, so even if I don't actually write my dissertation tonight, I have the material for if I ever do. Grr why on Earth I chose to write my dissertation on an almost-dead regional language is sometimes beyond me. Ah well, at least I can say that I'm unique! Mainly because no-one else is barmy enough to choose the same subject... *g*

So anyways as usual I hope you enjoy, and please let me know what you think before I attempt to post it to the comm. I do hope Sanzo's not too OOC :)

3rd 53 ficlet and back off to Blighty...

  • Dec. 22nd, 2007 at 9:56 AM
liz
Well, okay, I'm not flying until tonight, but I'm booted out of residence at midday, (and I still haven't packed! ooops) so this may be the last time I'm connected until tomorrow afternoon.

Anyhoo, thanks to a little prodding by [info]anguisel, here is my 3rd 53 'problem' ficlet. A little weirder than the last two, but you probably should have realised that it was going to be a downward spiral... I don't particularly like it, so any suggestions are welcome before I unleash it on the comm!

Btw [info]befaniniI tried to get the sexy goo in somewhere, I really did- it was part of the last line until I substitued 'melted' for 'incoherent'... better luck next time :)

I'll put the the song lyrics in a second post, but kudos to whoever recognises the song :)

Here's to a relaxing weekend!

Very quick 53 fic warning

  • Dec. 21st, 2007 at 9:53 PM
liz
Well, this is just to warn you that another 'problem' 53 drabble is on its way... with weirder humour than ever... it's complete (about 450 words) but I need to tweak it just a little. I was planning on working on it tonight but, um, I'm off to the Irish pub again. But I WILL get it completed before I fly back to Britain tomorrow evening. So watch out!
I'll give you a clue... I've completely misappropriated (is that a word?) a Disney song... *grins*

Apologies for the random capitalisation. It's clearly time for me to go home!

I'm afraid no ficlet tonight; perhaps I'll have the chance to get one hammered out over the weekend. I'll see what I can do! I came close to buying Saiyuki Reload 4 the other day (it's only just come out here in France) but my bank balance got the better of me. Ugh. Maybe I can fool myself by telling myself I need something to read on the plane. On that really long Toulouse-Gatwick flight. Not that I didn't just buy Tokko, Diabolo and Guardian Dog 3...

However the good news is that [info]dentelle_noirand [info]gwy, I got your post sent off on Wednesday! In jiffy bags nonetheless, so hopefully should arrive intact. [info]tsuki_bugmy dear yours should get in the post tomorrow morning. I tried to post it yesterday but forgot to take your address with me. Stomped my foot on the floor repeatedly in the post office but it didn't particularly help! Once again [info]dentelle_noirm'dear thank you so much for my card... it now has pride of place on the incredibly dusty bureau :)

Not much to report, really- had a serious lycée blockade on Monday -the police literally had to help me in and out- but I think things are finally improving. They were protesting against changes to the Bac rather than the Loi Pécresse. Cheeky sods just don't want to work, that's it! lol they're not too bad really. And at any rate, I've only got a week before I fly!

Right, off to the Irish pub. Hope everyone's had a good week!

2nd 53 ficlet and The End of Anarchy?

  • Dec. 7th, 2007 at 11:07 PM
liz
Hmm, well the anarchy appears to be over. Since Tuesday I haven't seen a single riot! Although there was a bizarre sound the other day that by all accounts sounded like an air-raid siren. And tonight there are loud bangs and bright lights... *pulls the shutters closed* ... I gave up a long time ago anyway! Just bundle me off to the Irish pub for the duration.

At any rate, being pissed off at school (don't get me started on those Seconde pupils) meant that I came home and had a go at a second 53 drabble. I thought I'd post it here first to see what people thought of it before I dared show it in BadFriends! It could probably do with a once-over, so any comments are more than welcome! The first one was a bit of a one-off and therefore a hard act to follow!

Hope everyone's had a good week- and now onto the weekend!

EDIT: Grammar point now smoothed out- thanks [info]anguiseland [info]southpaw_1128!

Well, it's December to-morrow! I caved in this evening actually- I've got the tinsel up, the Christmas tree out of its box (it's 6" tall!) and the Christmas music is playing... if only I had some sherry and mince pies it might be perfect!

As you may have heard on the news, France is currently in chaos. In particular Paris and my darling Toulouse, which even made the BBC news the other night (and for all the wrong reasons!). Alongside all the rioting, blockades, burning cars etc. etc. I even got besieged at school! Which actually made me want to stomp my foot on the floor and throw a tantrum, because ah, just when you think this place can't get any more unbelievable, there it goes! I have 15-year-old blond militants in my classes calling for action against the government! It just wouldn't happen in Britain *grins*
Actually, I have a fabulous quote from the day we got besieged (and later evacuated).

Pupil: C'est la revolution Madame!
Teacher: Mais non, c'est l'anarchie!
(Both said with equal passion).
... I honestly don't know how this country functions on a daily basis!

At any rate, I finally completed my 53 (Saiyuki: GojyoxSanzo) drabble and just posted it in the comm, and I thought I'd put it here too in case anyone else is interested :)

At any rate, I am going Christmas shopping to-morrow, and am well excited! Hot chocolate, hot chesnuts, the Disney store... heheh we even went to see Il Était Une Fois (English title= Enchanted) last night, and when we left the cinema around midnight all the Christmas lights were up in the town; it was amazing! I was actually quite fond of the film, although am really annoyed that I can't limewire the songs in French :(

Right, best head off to the Irish pub. I think they may be missing me.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Whose idea was it to live in a foyer run by nuns?? Don't get me wrong, the nuns are lovely, but I could murder a half of cider!

Other than that, things seem to be going quite well ici. All the paperwork seems to be sorted (bank account, travel card, insurance etc.) so am now just acclimatising before starting work as une assistante d'anglais. Understanding the Toulousain accent is also proving to be quite interesting... en fin, quand (it is so easy to slip into French!) lol when I return home I shall undoubtedly be incomprehensible to just about everyone.

Am trying to restrain myself from spending my days shopping; that is, at least until my salary starts to come through! Another disadvantage of living in a big town/city is the availability of manga -I've already bought some Saiyuki Reload in French, and Death Note is always there too! Also a stable internet connection means watching anime too- I really need to get out more! I watched Saiyuki in Japanese with Italian subtitles, trying to pretend it was good Italian practice... the best thing about Toulouse is probably the crêperies mmm... and oh my I even saw a chocolate-covered croissant the other day. As in completely covered. By Christmas I will need to be rolled home!

Came out of the métro the other day on the escalator and it was pouring down... I couldn't even turn around and try to run back down the escalator! The sky was black, we got soaked to the bone, I used my insurance papers as an umbrella and it was brilliant! I think I'm going to like this place!!!

Hope everyone's having a great week :)

Still with my head in the clouds...

I think the summer may actually have arrived... after the floods, the sunshine. And I'm still in such a ridiculously good mood after spending a fortnight in Turkey. Had such a wonderful time there- the people were lovely and the places and culture fascinating. I also got three pashminas, two boxes of apple tea and a rather good tan! Mission accomplished :)

Now I'm back into my two jobs again! I've now taken over doing certificates at work, which takes ages, but I feel pleased at the end! It basically involves producing certificates from the order labels and transport data. Kind of geeky but it's steady. Someone brought in angel cakes so that brightened up the afternoon. It's jazz at the pub on Sunday, so that should be fairly eventful. And I wouldn't mind a half of cider ;)

Quick notes!:

[info]tsuki_bugmy dear I will definitely have to bake you some ginger cake! And I look forward to whatever form of letter you choose, not forgetting the leaves in Autumn! I'll be in France by then... excited!! I never got the chance to ask you how your work was going- everything okay hopefully! Did you get a chance to redo your experiments?

[info]gwyhon did you get my last e-mail? I hope so, because I rambled a little! Lol just let me know if you did. It could be fun looking through the fic together. I'm still over the moon that you liked it, because I have an admittedly odd sense of humour. I think I may have read that you've finished writing your diploma, yes?? If so well done!!! I should post you something exciting!

I do hope everyone is having a lovely summer! Sorry I haven't had the time to check up on everyone's journals but I will endeavour to do so soon! Oh and to anyone in the Saiyuki fandom *prods [info]anguisel* do you know if we're making any progress with arrangements for the 53 festival? Am really looking forward to it :)

Right... now to drink Turkish apple tea. I sooo need to get out more *grins*

Woooo... Mauritius was amazing as usual! I do love that island. And I am definitely off back again! Just give me a little time to earn some money... after I've repaid my Mum for this trip's flights... lol I'm now back at work in my office job, working my little socks off- I'm a technical administrator this time around, working on the suppliers database. Tomorrow I get to wander around one of the factories taking notes during the audit. I do lead an exciting life!!!

At any rate, things are only going to get more chaotic from hereonin- I'm working at the pub as well, so balancing two jobs like last summer. I also have to clean out the flat, attend parties (such a tiresome obligation, I know ;) and a million and one other things... and also prepare for my year abroad in Toulouse! I'm really excited about it! But there is so much paperwork to get through! Aaagh, daft French.

Anyhoo, I should probably get some kip or I may fall asleep in the audit tomorrow.
Hope everyone's enjoying their summer so far!

Because I'm quite obviously not preparing for any of my three essays ;) It's also raining outside, which hardly helps me feel particularly academic. I'd much rather eat chocolate biscuits and GET EXCITED ABOUT GOING BACK TO MAURITIUS IN MAY!!! Wooooooo! Haha it's been two years since I was last there. I am definitely due! I'm going straight after exams finish in May. I hadn't planned on going until next summer, but our friends who live there are leaving in July, so the parents are packing me off asap! Love it! ...right, ahem, should probably do some work. In the meantime, I thought this was amusing- I had to do a tie-breaker question between rum and midori!

Well the weather's currently gorgeous up here! Not particularly conducive to writing essays (Machiavelli, linguistics, French army) or presentations (French politics) but I did have a good day yesterday. My friend and I got ice creams, wandered about town in the sunshine and then watched the Outlaw Josey Wales. So quite productive, really, in a non-academic way!!

So I was meant to be working today instead, only I wrote a little ficlet for
who has just spent 11 hours on a train. It (i.e. my ficlet) is unbetaed and probably horrendously crap, but it's the thought that counts, right??

It's a long, long way to Tipperary...

Wow, can't believe it's the end of Week VII. Tomorrow is the start of the Easter holidays. I'm halfway through second semester of my second year at uni! Scary thought. When we get back we start pre-advising for our honours modules, and for those of us who are going abroad next year (i.e. me!), that means choosing our courses for fourth and fifth year. Erk. 2010 seems soooo far away! So you see, my dear [info]gwy, when you're all sorted and happily running around with your landscaping, I'll still be writing essays the night before the deadline, drinking toxic punch and suffering the next day! Mmm I only had two pints of the stuff... eugh.

So now I'm sat here feeling sorry for myself... heh. But I did get some interesting post this morning. I've been looking into the records for my great-great-uncle Percy, who was killed on in the First World War (on my birthday- how freaky is that), and my aunt just sent me some more info on Ypres to help piece together the background. He's on the Tyne Cot Memorial to the Missing in Belgium, which I fully intend to visit at some point. I was so excited when I found out about him- I mean, I studied First World War lit. at A-level, and I've visited a lot of the French & British cemetries in the North of France (as well as Vimy Ridge and some American trenches) and then found out that an actual relative of mine had been involved. It kind of blew my mind!!

Anyways, I now need to a) pack for going home, and b) watch Roma, città aperta so that I can write about it for our assessment on Italian neorealist cinema. It sounds quite interesting, actually. Right, better pack. Must remember [info]tsuki_bug's hot chocolate! Have a lovely weekend everyone!

England 42-20 Scotland wooooooooo!!!

  • Feb. 3rd, 2007 at 6:01 PM
liz

Well that was a very, very nice start to the Six Nations! England won the Calcutta Cup 42-20! Mainly notable, of course, for the phenomenal performance of Jonny Wilkinson after his looong (waaay too long!) absence, as well as the return of Jason Robinson from retirement, and amazing games from Ellis, Lund and Tindall in particular. Considering I'm in Scotland I was a little apprehensive about the results of the match (wasn't brave enough to watch it down the pub!) but this will keep me smiling for a long time!! Mmmm Jonny Wilkinson XD

Ooh a Magnum!

  • Jan. 31st, 2007 at 8:59 PM

Wow, can't believe my post-exams holiday is nearly at an end! Seven weeks of actual work ahead of me! Fun, fun. Considering I've spent most of the last three sleeping, shopping and watching films perhaps it's somewhat necessary in order to gain a degree! I've actually spent the last four working behind the bar in the pub to earn a bit of cash. Come home smelling of beer and cigarette smoke every evening, but it's paying for my eBay habit!

Also, seeing as how I don't  have a television at uni, have been watching a good deal of that- Dirty Harry: Magnum Force, CSI, Shameless and a fair few comedy binges on Blackadder, Monty Python and Dad's Army, I may very well end up with square eyes XD
Why though, when you have free time on your hands, is there never anything decent on??? Aaagh. If I see one more loan or sofa sale advert I may just commit hari kari.

On the plus side, was on the market today and got 6oz apple bonbons, which will keep me amused for days. Yes, I am about 5 years old! Mother had a little trip down memory lane when she saw the cola cubes, which was quite funny.

Hope everyone's having a lovely week!
